Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Cincinnati Union Bethel.

Early Childhood Education

Our preschools need volunteers for a number of tasks. Some of the volunteers work directly with the children, who are three to five years old; some do not. All volunteers work with teaching staff to ensure safe, educational opportunities for our children.

There is a screening process in order to protect the children in our care. Often volunteers must undergo a physical, including a Tuberculosis test, and a criminal background check, but the requirements vary depending on what you will be doing. We will be happy to explain the paperwork and outline what is needed to do this important work.

Opportunities include:

Reading to the children
Helping serve lunch
Answering phones at one of the preschools
Painting a classroom
Mulching/cleaning a playground
Being involved in the soccer program
Preparing classrooms in August
Cleaning closets, storage areas
Organizing the Toys for Tots in December
Chaperoning a field trip
Serving food or helping with games at the end of the year party

The Anna Louise Inn

We work hard to make the Inn as comfortable as possible for our residents. The building itself is over 100 years old, and historical buildings need a lot of upkeep. Therefore, volunteers most often assist in that capacity, helping to paint, clean, and landscape. However, there are other, less labor-intensive opportunities for volunteers to make the Anna Louise Inn more of a home for our residents.

Opportunities include:

Painting rooms, hallways and ceilings
Mulching and planting flowers in the Spring
Trimming the trees on the patio
Painting wrought-iron fencing
Waxing floors
Cleaning storage closets
Organizing donated items
Sweep the front porch
Sewing 46” x 84” curtains for a room
Stuffing envelopes for mailings

Off the Streets

The Off the Streets program is heavily supported by volunteers who run sessions throughout the day for the women in the program. These positions are currently full. However, volunteers may help in other ways.

Opportunities include:

Writing letters of encouragement to the women in the program
Cooking a meal for the women
Making baked goods for a session break
Serving on a committee
Hosting a potluck with friends to raise money and tell them about the program
Collecting personal care items to donate to the program

Please contact Garron Segal, Development Manager, at 513-768-6930 with any questions or to get started.

Words of Wisdom

95% of the residents of the Anna Louise Inn live on incomes below the 2012 Federal poverty line, $11,170.

We rely on your support to better the lives of women and children. We simply couldn’t do what we do without you. Please consider donating to Cincinnati Union Bethel or directly to one of our programs: early childhood education, the Anna Louise Inn, or Off the Streets. Donate & Register Here »
