Early Childhood Education
Children in CUB’s early childhood education program are prepared for kindergarten. Over 80% of four year olds tested ready for kindergarten in three key areas of language & literacy, social/emotional and physical development.
  100% of children get medical and dental care.
Children learn at CUB’s preschools. 100% of our lead teaching staff have credentials with specialized training in early childhood education.
  100% of CUB’s education programs meet and maintain high-quality ratings.
  100% of CUB’s preschools don’t have a television because teachers have worthwhile activities planned for each day.
  Our preschools are Step-Up-to-Quality rated centers.
Early childhood education matters. Children’s brains develop more in the first five years of their lives than in the rest of their K-12 years combined.
  100% of CUB’s education programs meet and maintain high-quality ratings.
  Each $1 spent in early childhood education saves $7 in future spending on special education, intervention services, and public support.
Anna Louise Inn
The Anna Louise Inn meets a need in women’s housing. The Anna Louise Inn is the only single-occupancy residence for women in Cincinnati, where over 250 women are housed annually.
  For over 100 years, The Anna Louise Inn has provided safe, affordable housing for women.
  98% of the residents are experiencing a transition in their lives with challenging situations such as financial strains, mental health issues, or credit problems that prevent them from seeking housing elsewhere.
  99% of the women at the Inn are living on incomes at or below $14,550 per year.
The Anna Louise Inn continues to enrich the community. Provided emergency shelter to over 100 families in partnership with Mercy Franciscan.
 
Off the StreetsSM (OTS)
Off the StreetsSM is a successful program. Over 80% of the women make positive life changes.
  For women who participate in the program for 30 days or more, 96% report no involvement in prostitution and 88% report no drug use.
  Of these same women, over 80% also obtain jobs and/or housing.
Off the StreetsSM has a positive impact on the criminal justice system. Over $100,000 saved annually in jail costs.
It costs less for a woman to be in the program than in jail.
  Over 1,000 fewer jail days are served each year, easing jail overcrowding and saving money.
  85% do not get a new prostitution-related conviction in the six months after connecting with OTS
Women in OTS overcome great odds to become productive members of the community. Over ¾ of women in prostitution are sexually assaulted as a child.
Over 1/3 of prostituted women are homeless before age 18.

Words of Wisdom

Women 65 and older receive $10,685 on average annually in Social Security; $145 less than the 2009 Federal poverty guideline.
