HEAD START/EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION BILINGUAL FAMILY SERVICE WORKER
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Recruit, Enroll & Retain children for the assigned ECE site (Camp Washington), with a focus on non-English speaking families
- Responsible for maintaining full enrollment at the site
- Complete Family Partnership Agreements; Develop relationships with families
- Generate and follow up on internal referral information (i.e., education, residence, job, health, etc.)
- Responsible for home visits concerning children and family involvement
- Develop community partnership with appropriate professional agencies serving Head Start families
- Responsible for paperwork completion with families for health appointments within the specified timeframe
- Organize and coordinate with parents’ partnership programs
- Provide and maintain child assessment data; To include waiting lists and import into Child Plus
- Support and recruit for Male Involvement, soccer, Toys for Tots, NKOA and family meetings
Minimum Qualifications Required
High school diploma required, Associates Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field preferred. Minimum of two years’ experience in related social service field. Bilingual or multilingual in English, Spanish and/or French required. Proof of valid driver license, auto insurance and driving record required for Agency travel.
HEAD START/EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TEACHER ASSISTANT
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist in creating & maintaining a physical environment conducive to promoting optimal growth and development via positive social interaction of pre-school children including eating with children.
- Assist in the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate instructional programs to encourage parental involvement and knowledge base as their child’s primary source of affection, care and learning.
- Participate in transition process for children and families.
- Assist in the coordination of Family Service work, ADA, and child abuse program requirements, as well as, schedule and document parent-teacher conferences and home visits.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of daily developmental learning models for pre-school age children which provides for cultural, social economic backgrounds, emotional or physical disabilities, and individual style and pace of learning.
- Assist in the implementation of IEP’s for all children including those with diagnosed disabilities.
- Assist in the implementation of developmentally appropriate reading programs and programs which promote healthy, accepting attitudes regarding children’s bodies and their functions.
- Assist in the evaluation of developmental progress and maintain records for each child, including progress and immunization status.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Child Development Certification (CDA) for children 3-5 years required; Associate’s in ECE (earned or in-progress) preferred. Good verbal and written skills and knowledge of working with pre-school age children in an urban setting a plus.
